Jeweler, Metalsmith & Artist

Two series: Industrial and Transmogrify have been developing over the last ten years and continuously grow. The Industrial series has been influenced from the Transmogrify Series, these pieces exhibit similar attributes. While the Transmogrify pieces are large, one of a kind, the Industrial Series is made on a smaller scale and created to be accessible for everybody.

Industrial: [in-duhs-tree-uh l]

adj. 1774, from French industriel, from Medieval Latin industrialis, from Latin industria.
Earlier the word had been used in English in a sense "resulting from labor" (1580s);
The modern use is considered a re-borrowing. Meaning "suitable for industrial use" is from 1904.

Transmogrify: [trāns-mŏg'rə-fī']

To change into a different shape or form, especially one that is fantastic or bizarre.
Even without our knowing it, ideas of beauty hold a significant influence on the ways we come to experience pain.

Using a post-industrial aesthetic, I push the boundaries of jewelry by exploring ways to create rituals of wearing, marking, and recovery through the creation of objects that make physical demands upon the wearer. The audience is confronted by a contradiction: the visual elegance, and intricacy to each piece: beauty; and the threatening psychical attributes of the found objects: pain. The culminating pieces of the series knit together contemporary practices of ornament, piercing, and the physical attributes of flesh suspension. The devices I have created leave a temporary or permanent mark that becomes a secondary form of decoration and as a vestige of the act.
